Ghee Kera (Caramelized Bananas)

The name says it all, ghee + bananas! We never used ghee, so I substituted it for butter. I used to feel super special when my mum used to make me caramelized bananas for Sunday breakfast. I liked my kera super caramelized and loved the bits that stuck to the frying pan! Breakfasts were so much more interesting before I discovered peanut butter.

Recipe: Ghee Kera

Also known as: Caramelized Bananas

Accompaniments: Rotli

Source: N/A

Servings: 2

  • 2 large yellow bananas, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • Pinch of cardamom powder (optional)

In a non-stick frying pan heat the butter, add the banana slices. Coat the slices with the butter and add the sugar. Cook until the sugar melts and eventually browns.  Don’t mash-up the bananas! Add the cardamom powder.

Eat with rotli.

Variation: For a yummy dessert, make caramelized bananas to go with vanilla ice-cream and toasted walnuts.
